The Lighter Side of Business........

( Awwww.....I'm not sure that is funny....)

The Lighter Side of Business: Bill Gates' Advice to High School Students to Breakthrough Performance.

You may have heard this advice from Bill Gates, CEO of Microsoft, Inc., but it's worth hearing again, especially if you have children.

Rule 1: Life is not fair — get used to it

Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $40,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping — they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades, and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off, and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Update....

In December, I posted this photo of my parents, and the couple they have been teaching a bible study to, on a blog regarding my father's trip to Vietnam.

Much has transpired since then and God has moved in our city in a mighty way. Following are the latest two photos, which tell how this journey has progressed and how Bible Studies do work! After a year and a half of being taught, steps toward obedience to God's word have become of the utmost importance. God is good!

In Jesus Name.......

....and the Holy Ghost came!

Needless to say, my parents are a VERY happy, and thankful, pastoral unit right now! :-) We had a wonderful time at the lake with this fun-filled, life-changed, happy couple yesterday, amongst some other new babies in the church and family members. Also present were my parent's prior bible study, who are becoming wonderful saints of God with their two beautiful little ones. What incredible examples my parents have been of active soul-winners. I'm so thankful........

*p.s. this is simply a very small portion of the incredible outpouring of revival the last two months. We are incredibly thankful.....

No Greater Feeling........

When I pray, all heaven surrounds me.
When I pray, my doubts disappear.
There is no greater feeling, in this whole wide world,
than to know, Jesus hears me..........when I pray.

Let Go.......

Congratulations Joe and Sarah!

My sister and her husband graduated with their two year degrees this past Friday, May 8th, 2009. They both received AA degrees, Joe with emphasis in Business Administration and Sarah with emphasis in Early Childhood Education and Development. I am so incredibly proud of them for this wonderful accomplishment in their lives!

These two are parents, both hold jobs, and they both have many extra curricular obligations that they are responsible for.  They love God and have put him first in all that they do. They are Kingdom minded and work above and beyond in their local church. Joe is one of our drum players, he team teaches with me in the teen class, he is on the youth committee, he is head of one of the cleaning teams, and he is a worship leader. He takes each of these duties very seriously and gives his all to do his best for the kingdom of God. Sarah is the church secretary and has a huge amount of responsibility on her shoulders. She also teaches and has a strong burden for the primary sunday school class. She is in charge of the ladies ministries and pretty much heads the majority of the fund-raising efforts, in addition to helping in the music department.

Despite all of their responsibilities they have committed to pressing through to attain their dreams of a college education. They've done this in hopes of providing a better life for their family and of being well trained to bless the work and the Kingdom of God. God has blessed them and continues to bless their efforts in the church.

Congratulations Sarah Belle, I love you mucho and am so proud of you! Congratulations Joe. I seriously have to tell you what a trial it is to work right down the hall from you at HCC. :)  JT!  No seriously, I love having friends in high places. It really helps when someone from the record's office is your BIL.  The only thing I think is kind of fishy is the fact that you get to do your own degree audit! 8-S  Scaaaarrrryyyy!!! :D  I love y'all and am so glad that you're mi familia!
